Windows XP Bug: Search Utility Won't Find Text
The windows XP search utility has a bug in which text will not be found within text files where the file suffix is not recognized, as shown below.

You can find out more about this OS bug by searching for the following on the Internet. Note that the commonly suggested fix involved modifieng a registry key to the file type named PersistentHandler ... but this fix does not always work.

This is one of those egregious bugs in that it allows Microsoft to use its dominance in the OS market, to effectively dominate other markets such as office as text in office-generated files are found just fine ... the OS bug appears only in non Microsoft-generated files.
Open explorer, as shown.

Right-click the mouse on "My Computer", and select, "Manage".

Under "Indexing Services", select "Properties."

Select "Index files with unknown extensions" and click "Apply."

Now the search should now work fine ...
